「Designed in Japan, Built in Malaysia」

V3D Asia Group Chairman

V3D Asia Partners with Malaysia's CIDB to Establish 3D Construction Printing as the "Seventh IBS-Recognised Construction Method"
Building on 3D construction printing technology from Japan, the company aims to lay the foundations of a new construction industry in Malaysia - spanning talent, materials, construction methods and quality control.

V3D Asia Ltd. (headquartered in Tokyo; "V3D Asia") will work with the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia ("CIDB") as its primary industry partner to have 3D construction printing ("3DCP") recognised as a standard construction method, paving the way for full-scale, real-world adoption of the technology in Malaysia.

In Malaysia, CIDB promotes the Industrialised Building System (IBS) to improve construction productivity and quality, and six construction methods are currently recognised under the system.

V3D Asia and its Malaysian operating company, Nuvah Sdn Bhd ("Nuvah"), aim to establish 3DCP as the seventh IBS-recognised construction method, and will pursue ongoing discussions and collaboration with CIDB toward that goal.

"Designed in Japan, Built in Malaysia"
V3D Asia's ambition goes beyond exporting its Japanese-developed 3D construction printer technology to Malaysia.

Under the philosophy of "Designed in Japan, Built in Malaysia," the engineering and design of the industrial 3D construction printing platform are carried out in Japan, while the specialist workforce, materials technology, structural engineering, construction know-how and quality control needed to apply the technology to real buildings are developed and accumulated within Malaysia.

What stays in the country is not just the machines, but the skills and the people needed to master them and turn them into architecture that belongs to the region.

V3D Asia aims to establish 3DCP not merely as a new construction technique, but as one of the foundations supporting Malaysia's next-generation construction industry.

Mr Kazuhiro Ono, Group Chairman of V3D Asia, said:
"The potential of 3D construction printing does not come from machines alone. A printer itself can be purchased in any country. What is truly valuable is people - people who understand the technology, understand the materials, and can master it as a craft.

"Our goal is not to sell machines into Malaysia. It is to grow the printers, the buildings and, above all, the people, here in this country. If we achieve that, in ten years' time Malaysia will not be a buyer of this technology - it will be a supplier of it to the ASEAN region."

Developing Industry Standards for 3DCP with SIRIM
In parallel with this institutional work, V3D Asia and Nuvah are also building the technical foundations for 3DCP in Malaysia.

In June 2026, the companies announced a collaboration with SIRIM Academy Sdn Bhd, part of SIRIM Berhad, Malaysia's leading standards and quality institution, and began work toward establishing the country's first industry standards in the field of 3D construction printing.

IBS recognition with CIDB, and industry standards with SIRIM: by advancing these two tracks in parallel, the companies will take 3DCP from the demonstration stage to a construction method that can be adopted in real residential, commercial and infrastructure projects.

Entering the Phase of Collaboration with Local Partners
V3D and Nuvah have already built a track record, including a project commissioned by the Government of Brunei and a residential project in Batam, Indonesia.

Going forward, the companies plan to deploy 3DCP in real construction projects - residential, commercial and infrastructure - working in partnership with, rather than in competition with, Malaysia's established developers and contractors.

The next milestone is "Villa Bayu," to be built in Eco Majestic, Gentlebre, Malaysia. Malaysia's first luxury bungalow built with 3D printing technology, it is scheduled to commence construction in November 2026.

In Bali, Indonesia, the companies are also planning a 12-villa development built for sale, targeted for completion in December 2027.

Making 3DCP Part of ASEAN's New Construction Infrastructure
Malaysia's construction industry faces persistent challenges around labour shortages, build schedules and cost stability.

In this environment, construction automation technologies, including 3DCP, are becoming not merely novel technologies but realistic options for supporting the industry going forward.

Certification and standardisation are essential to that adoption.

Formal recognition as a construction method opens the way for 3DCP to be specified in public and private projects, financed by lenders, underwritten by insurers and adopted by developers at scale.

V3D Asia aims to build that foundation first in Malaysia, and in time to bring the technology, standards, talent and track record accumulated there to markets across ASEAN.

Mr Ono added:
"This is just the beginning of what we are trying to build in Malaysia. We want each of these initiatives to become a foundation for the industry that follows."
